| Themes
Terrorising the American Midwest, a prolific serial killer is targeting the small-time criminals law enforcement has long since ignored.
The news media dub him the ‘Porch Pirate Killer’.
To some, he is an avenging angel, the embodiment of societal frustration at the normalisation of petty crime; to others, a terrorist bent on death and chaos.
Conflict between supporters and critics of the PPK’s crusade drive a new wedge through a nation scarred by partisan antipathy.
As rival factions become increasingly unstable, violence spills out onto the streets, triggering fears of civil war.
When the President places their political agenda above the capture of the Porch Pirate Killer, a final, devastating attack becomes inevitable.
The story is rooted in today's modern American political landscape. The capture of the PPK is impeded by extreme political interference, allowing him free rein to attack criminals, where this fits the Administration's narrative. The president is clearly lying, but media institutions fail to challenge him.
Another major theme is where in a cost-of-living crisis, is direct action against a criminal such as a porch pirate warranted, where even the most petty of theft may cause substantial harm to the victim?
The book also reveals an associated social degradation, which not only underpins the killer's rational, but also informs on the motivations of the other political groups in the novel.

| Interview Questions and Answers
What inspired you to write this book?
The cost-of-living crisis is causing hardship around the world. The increasing prevalence of petty crime is a symptom of that. I imagined what would happen if a thief stole from someone at a pivotal point in their life, and how they would react.
What was the most challenging aspect of the writing process?
The story naturally includes a number of criminals, and I wanted to ensure they were humanised, but not excused for their actions. This is a difficult balance to ensure, especially when many of them face an impending, horrifying death.
What surprised you the most during the writing process?
How much I became attached to so many of the characters. That is the hardest part - creating such wonderful people, get to know them, sometimes across many chapters, only for something terrible to happen to them. Considering this is the tale of a serial killer, that occurs all to often.
What was your hardest scene to write?
The toughest scene to write was when Lauren Rivinus, the main protagonist arrives in St. Louis and discovers the aftermath of an attack perpetrated by the killer. It is an emotional scene and central to Lauren's motivation going forward.

TRIVIA
The Detroit postcards featured in the story are actual cards printed between 1930 and 1945 by United News Company in Detroit. Many of the historic buildings depicted on the cards, including the Kresge Administration Building and Guardian Building, are still present today. The writer included them to pay tribute to these architecturally, and historically significant buildings.
QUOTES
Carl Weathersby: “Does it help, therapy?”
Abigail Lyons: “Heck, no. If I wanted to talk about my emotions I’d fuck a liberal.”

The world stands divided over author Issac Grey Lambert’s uncompromising new thriller “The Porch Pirate Killer”.
A ripple effect: Issac Grey Lambert’s controversial thriller “The Porch Pirate Killer” deepens divisions in a fractured nation. The United States, a nation and population riven by a partisan divide: the blues, and the reds — now plunged into savage disagreement.
What are your limits?
Does the right to defend oneself and one’s family extend beyond the home and into the street? What if a porch pirate stole the food, or prescription drugs, or other life essentials your family cannot do without? How far would you go?
Porch pirates, the scourge of so many American neighbourhoods, have plundered seemingly unrestrained since the rise of internet shopping. Packages vanish daily, snatched from doorsteps before homeowners even retrieve them. But in today’s unprecedented cost-of-living crisis, petty crimes have escalated almost to the point of normalcy. Inflation has soared, paychecks haven’t kept pace, and the cost of necessities like food and utilities has crippled many families.
When conflict escalates.
Desperation breeds resentment, and that resentment finds a focal point in the growing number of porch pirate incidents. In “The Porch Pirate Killer”, an ordinary citizen, pushed to the breaking point after experiencing a porch theft, unleashes a vicious, bloody retribution. Far-ranging consequences follow, plunging an entire nation into internecine conflict, driving the population to the brink of civil war.
The United States — a nation and population riven by a partisan political divide: the blues versus the reds — now plunged into turbulent disagreement. Throughout the course of the novel, groups from both perspectives appeal for the sympathy of the reader. When the president places their political agenda above the capture of the Porch Pirate Killer, the FBI diverts all resources into protecting the president’s narrative, allowing the killer free rein to murder indiscriminately. Only a group of academics and a disgraced FBI agent stand in the way of the killer's final, devastating attack.
Are the killer’s actions excusable?
Do today’s economic hardships excuse the killer’s actions? The killer’s methods are brutal, each porch pirate meeting a gruesome end, the details of which Lambert doesn’t shy away from portraying. Readers express opposing views; some hail the killer as a vigilante hero, a voice for the voiceless, while others condemn the violence, warning of the dangers of mob rule and the erosion of societal conventions.
The book’s release has sparked heated debates across social media. Is this justice, or just revenge? Would you follow the law, or would you consider taking matters into your own hands? Lambert’s novel doesn’t offer straightforward answers, but it allows readers to confront the complex moral questions at the heart of our increasingly polarised society.

"An ordinary citizen unleashes a vicious, bloody retribution on petty criminals, with far-ranging consequences, plunging an entire nation into internecine conflict."
"Readers are in bitter opposition over the actions of the Porch Pirate Killer. Some applaud the killer’s actions, seeing justice delivered, however brutally so. Others see only a murderer, regardless of the justification."
Issac Grey Lambert is optimistic about the future, and fiction allows us to think through the ramifications of our collective actions before we get there.
Issac is a writer, musician, and artist. He is the author of the Bloody Colony book series, blending visions of the future of human colonisation with tales of hubris, greed, and arrogance. Issac's latest release, The Porch Pirate Killer is now available.
His executive editor, a local cat who drops by to supervise his writing efforts, is almost certainly using mind control to ensure a steady supply of fishy treats.
Issac's books are available exclusively on Amazon Books.
